  • Custodian's requests are noted, acted upon and followed through
  • Positive body language is observed at all times
  • Custodian is reassured of ability to take care of elderly using appropriate phrases
  • Important detains are taken from custodian if he/she is going out

Communicate with elderly

  • Job scopes and processes are clearly explained to elderly were applicable
  • Communication is carried out politely and professionally in a manner that elderly understands and is treated with respect and dignity
  • Elderly request are noted, acted upon and followed through
  • Elderly is provided with advices, where applicable, on
  • - feed and nutrition
    - exercise and fitness
    - promoting well-being and health
  • Feedback on work performance is obtained where applicable
  • Positive body language is observed all time

Assist in elderly activities

  • Elderly activities are monitored for safety in a manner that no injury occurs during activities
  • Elderly movement is assisted in accordance with instructions given by custodian or elderly
  • Elderly request to leave home is granted when custodian gives permission. Elderly is escorted in accordance with instructions given by custodian or elderly
  • Elderly diet and meal timings are strictly observed and permission is obtained from custodian if elderly requests for different diet or meal timing
  • Elderly requiring feeding is fed slowly in a manner that food bite size is correct, food temperature is right and enough time is given for chewing and swallowing
  • Elderly on medication is monitored in a manner that medication timing is strictly adhered to, correct dosage is given and behavior of elderly is monitored after ingestion
  • Elderly showing body discomfort or symptoms of illnesses is reported to custodian immediately. Assistance is rendered as instructed by custodian
  • Elderly needing attention is attended to immediately
  • Elderly needing assistance in bathing is attended to and precautions are taken to ensure that he/she is thoroughly cleaned and does not slip in bathroom
  • Elderly is not disturbed during sleep and is not exposed to frights, sudden shocks, noise and pranks

Provide feedback on caregiving services to custodian

  • Work activities are accurately reported to custodian of elderly
  • Any unusual encounters or behaviors of elderly are reported to custodian
  • Feedback is communicated in a friendly and professional manner
  • Questions are answered accurately in a friendly and professional manner
  • Feedback on work performance is obtained where applicable
  • Positive body language is observed at all time
