Communicate with custodian of infant or toddler

  • Custodian's requests are noted, acted upon and followed through
  • Positive body language is observed at all times
  • Custodian is reassured of ability to take care of infant or toddler using appropriate phrases
  • Important detains are taken from custodian if he/she is going out

Monitor activities of infant or toddler for safety and comfort

  • Infant's or toddler's movement is monitored in a manner that he/she does not crawl or walk near hazardous spots
  • Infant's or toddler's comfort is monitored in a manner that wet or soiled clothing, diapers or napkin is changed immediately
  • Infant or toddler crying or calling for attention is attended to immediately and he/she is pacified using appropriate methods specified by custodian
  • Infant or toddler at sleep is monitored in a manner that he/she is in a safe and comfortable position and cot is securely locked
  • Infant or toddler woke up from sleep is attended to immediately and is pacified using appropriate methods specified by custodian
  • Infant or toddler at play is monitored in a a manner he/she plays with suitable toys and not put any toys or objects into mouth, and does not cause injury to self or others
  • Infant or toddler showing symptoms of illnesses must be reported to custodian immediately. Assistance is rendered as instructed
  • Infant or toddler is not exposed to frights, sudden shocks, noise and pranks
  • Infant or toddler is talked to where applicable using appropriate tone and positive language
  • Health and safety requirements are adhered to at all times in accordance with established health and safety standards

Feed infant or toddler

  • Infant or toddler is prepared for feeding in a manner that he/she is positioned properly and attire or bib is put on
  • Infant's or toddler's meal timings are strictly observed and permission is obtained from custodian if additional feeding is required
  • Infant or toddler is fed with milk or food specified by custodian and permission must be obtained from custodian if it is to be fed with other kinds of milk or food
  • Items used for feeding are prepared and checked for cleanliness and hygiene
  • IInfant's or toddler's milk or food is prepared in accordance with custodian's instructions where applicable
  • Infant's or toddler's meal is tasted for temperature and suitability for consumption
  • Infant or toddler is fed using specified feeding bottle or utensils and appropriate methods
  • Hygiene practices are observed throughout feed process
  • Infant or toddler is fed slowly and back of body is gently pat periodically to aid digestion
  • Feeding is stopped immediately when infant or toddler shows signs of being fully fed, throwing up and unable to ingest any more milk or food
  • Items used for feeding are washed and cleaned using appropriate methods specified by custodian and stored in designated place
  • Health and safety requirements are adhered to at all times in accordance with established health and safety standards

Provide feedback on infant or toddler caregiving services to custodian

  • Work activities are accurately reported to custodian of infant or toddler
  • Any unusual encounters or behaviours of infant or toddler are reported to custodian before handling infant or toddler back to her
  • Feedback is communicated in a friendly and professional manner
  • Questions are answered accurately in a friendly and professional manner
  • Feedback on work performance is obtained where applicable
  • Positive body language is observed at all times
