Press Garments and Linen

Prepare work activities

  • Tools and equipment are checked for good working condition and safety prior to use

  • Iron is set to correct temperature
  • Hangers and sprays are prepared
  • Garments are checked for damage and suitability for pressing
  • Garments are sorted according to information and instructions on care labels before commencement of pressing activities

Press shirts and trousers

  • Shirt and trousers are checked for damage before commencement of pressing activities
  • Information and instructions on care label of shirts and trousers are read and followed throughout pressing process
  • Appropriate temperature setting of iron is adjusted to type of fabric of shirts and trousers
  • Shirts and trousers are pressed systematically and safely in accordance with procedure
  • Shirts and trousers are pressed without creases, straightened and flattened at joints, linings and seams
  • Iron is positioned correctly and safely in between ironing tasks
  • Shirts and trousers are folded or hanged according to standards after pressing

Press T-shirts and blouses

  • T-shirts and blouses are checked for damage before commencement of pressing activities
  • Information and instructions on care label of shirts and trousers are read and followed throughout pressing process
  • Appropriate temperature setting of iron is adjusted to type of fabric of t-shirt and blouses
  • T-shirts and blouses are pressed without creases, straightened and flattened at joints, linings and seams
  • Iron is positioned correctly and safely in between ironing tasks
  • T-shirts and blouses are folded or hanged according to standard after pressing

Press skirts and dresses

Press Linen

Reinstate work area

  • Iron is cooled and maintained before storage in designated place
  • Ironing board is folded, maintained and stored in designated area
  • Water is emptied from spray bottle (if used)
  • Hanged or folded garments/linen are placed in designated area
